The general education requirement for the BIS degree includes:

• 6 hours English Composition- ENGL 100 or 101, and ENGL 302 (or equivalent)
• 9 hours Humanities
• 9 hours Social Sciences
• 9 hours Science/Quantitative Reasoning/IT
  • 3 in IT or CS designated coursework
  • 3 in a Non-Lab Science (i.e. UNIV 301)
  • 3 hours Math or Statistics ***
• 3 hours Synthesis (BIS 490 Senior Project)

Courses used to fulfill the BIS general education requirements cannot be used within the concentration. GMU catalogues contain courses that meet each requirement.

*** Upon initial GMU transfer evaluation, a course used to fulfill this requirement must be equivalent to GMU's MATH 106 or STAT 250 (or higher).
