The Center for Humanities Research is accepting applications for our “residential" fellowships (faculty and graduate) for Spring 2021. While we do intend for this to be a residential fellowship post-pandemic, there’s no expectation that this first spring cohort will have to work on campus. Nevertheless, we will ask fellows to be actively involved in the virtual life of the Center, including giving talks/presenting research.
The Center’s theme for 2020-1 is “Dissent," inspired both by the passing of Justice Ginsburg, and by the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement, which reminds us daily, and with urgency, how crucial dissent is to our democracy and to the ongoing struggle for racial justice.
Governor Ralph Northam has signed legislation designating Election Day as a state holiday. As a state agency, Mason will participate in the observance by closing on Tuesday, November 3. All eligible members of the Mason community are encouraged to exercise their civic responsibility on Election Day, by voting, serving as Officers of Election, assisting others to vote, or otherwise participating in this cornerstone of American democracy.
