A winning record: Both of Dr. Mike Gilmore’s PhD advisees are awarded 2020 Summer Impact Research Grants

Summer Research Fellowships provide financial support to graduate students during the summer term, allowing students to devote significant time to their dissertation or thesis research. The intent of the award is to foster greater professional productivity and to assist in timely degree completion.

Brian Griffiths and Fiorella Briceño Huerta are both advised by Dr. Mike Gilmore, Associate Professor in the School of Integrative Studies. They are pursuing a PhD in Environmental Science and have each been awarded a $7,000.00 grant from George Mason University.  Both students are working in the Peruvian Amazon with indigenous communities on assessing the sustainability of traditional hunting practices and the conservation of game animals.
