Dr. Al Fuertes of SIS just finished his week-long facilitation in psychosocial trauma healing with trauma healing facilitators from Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, held in Huye District, Rwanda. The year-long Trauma Healing Institute where Dr. Fuertes is one of the resource persons and facilitators culminated on Nov. 15, 2024, and was organized by the United Evangelical Mission (UEM), based in Germany in partnership with the Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR). For Dr. Fuertes to learn from the participants and be educated by them in many ways has always been a great honor and privilege. Their stories of hope, resilience, and dedication - as wounded healers, toward healing and the rebuilding of communities, are worth telling and sharing, Fuertes said.
