Read about what our faculty and staff had to say about International Women's Day & Women's History month.

Margaret Zeddies - "In March last year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I went through surgery, two rounds of chemo, pneumonia, and radiation. Now, I'm still in active treatment for hormone therapy, but I'm finally starting to feel stronger again!"

Sharron Caldwell - "If you educate a woman, you educate a nation" - Dr. James Emmanuel Kwegyir-Aggrey

Dr. David Powers Corwin - "Feminism asks for everyone to be treated equitably, but if it were that easy we would have solved these issues already. We need everyone invested in the world they want to see through, education, activism, and visual representations like #AccelerateAction."

Dr. Susan Howard - "In a guest lecture last night, I was asked where my resilience and determination come from. And I said from my mother. I like to say I am who I am because of and INSPITE of her. She pushed me. She was demanding, impossible to please nor live up to her expectations of me. She was a dentist, a research scientist at NIH and also an innovator and a renegade: she left India in the 50s to study in the US at Ohio State University. The condition of her fully paid scholarship was that she be single. But the condition from her family to leave India was that she be married. She negotiated a compromise of getting engaged before leaving for the 3-month ship voyage. I honor her determination and can-do spirit through the Drs. Surya and Cecil Howard Book Fund to support students with books, materials, and supplies. Please donate here if this story resonates with you and please apply if you are a student in need."

Dr. Cher Weixia Chen - shares feedback on one of the classes she teaches, HNRS 260: WOMEN’S RIGHTS, LAW & POLICY. “This course inspired a strong sense of purpose in me, motivating me to seriously consider becoming an advocate for women’s rights.”
“I could feel how passionate she was about the subject (Women's Rights, Law and Policy) and it inspired me a lot.”
