For Editor of BIS Website

Welcome to CHSSWeb2! We have a help website: chssweb2.gmu.edu. If you are having problems with something and can't find what you need, please contact us at chssweb@gmu.edu. Please feel free to provide us with feedback on the help site and suggestions for additions or changes.

Events in Right Sidebar

On the current site, you list specific dates in the right sidebar - e.g. first day of classes, last day of classes, exam period, etc. There is a better way to do this than adding these dates yourself. They are all in the event database and we can just mark them to appear on your home page and your events listing. We'll set this up in the new system for you. Please ask Dee if you have any questions about this or if it doesn't express the things you want it to.

BIS Courses

  1. We have made the llink from the left sidebar  to the Courses App. That gives not just  catalog information but also information about upcoming scheduled sections.
  2. We have changed the name and link for the page: Course Information and Sample Syllabi to About BIS Courses (about-courses).
  3. We suggest that you use the Courses App to store and present the syllabi rather than do it this way. We will work with you on a better way to do these pages so that they are easier to find and easier to maintain. Don't have time now to redo this page now but would like to help you to make it better.

Pages and Sections

Pages and sections are ordered to follow the main navigation. First, the home page, then For-Editor, then Contact, followed by the main links from the left navigation top to bottom. Don't move any of the main pages into or out of a section, as that will change the URL and the link from the main left hand navigation will break.

Deleted Pages from CHSSWeb1

  1. We deleted the old Courses page (/biscourses). See section on courses above.
  2. We deleted the page Deadlines and Important Dates (/deadlines). It is very out of date and the events application can be used to do this more effectively.
  3. We deleted an old page: Application Process. It had the same information as How to Apply (/apply) and the latter page was the link from the How-to-Apply link in the utility navigation. We couldn't find anywhere that the page Application Process was linked and concluded it was an out-of-date version of the application process.
  4. We deleted the old page Alumni Profiles and the links/pages to each of them since all this information is now contained in the Meet an Alum section of the academic program.

Suggestions

  1. New best practices in web advise editors not to embed hyper links in the text itself, but to put the links relevant to a page in resource groups at the end of the page. We redid that for many of the current English pages. This is current best web practice because it makes keeping links updated more easily. You can put the same resource links on multiple pages without having to update them in more than one place.

Missing Attachments
